There are several superb sandy beaches within easy reach of Delphi.
Many of them are often completely devoid of people. Silver Strand, White Strand, Glasilaun Strand, Bertra Strand, Carrowmore Strand…. the list is lengthy and each is well worth a visit for a walk, a picnic, a paddle, a surf, or for the hardy, a swim.
Guests have often spotted dolphins, seals and otters at play. And the range of bird life can be amazing at various times of year. Tranquility and beauty, the whitest of sands – and nothing between you and America.
Day trips to the islands off the coast can be fun, although seas can sometimes be rough and the boats a bit irregular.
Of particular interest and charm are Inishboffin and Inishturk, each with small village communities and the all-important pub, sandy beaches and sense of going backwards in time. Clare Island, with its stunning lighthouse walk, is also a great place to visit.
Forget the commercialism of the Aran Isles and enjoy the beauty of these unspoilt gems before returning for a hearty dinner at Delphi.
