The excellent start to the season continues here at Delphi, with three more fish landed since my last update.

Peter Moran, from Derry, on seeing our excellent start took a chance and decided to try his luck for a couple of days. Within hours of arriving last Friday, he had hooked and landed his first ever Spring salmon, a cracking fish of 8lbs12ozs, taken in the Deadman’s on a Delphi Collie in extremely wet and windy conditions. DL_19_2019Peter had a beaming smile all weekend and it probably hasn’t left him yet!

Angus Sutherland and Denis Daly who have taken the first of our February timeshares, arrived on Sunday and Angus has struck not once but twice. His first was yesterday, a smashing fish of 11lbs7ozs on a Delphi Collie in the tail end of the Turn Pool.

Because there was a strong upstream wind this morning, both he and Denis decided to change tactics by backing up some pools and skate the Delphi Collie. Denis rose a fish twice in the tail end of the Turn Pool and then Angus came along and caught it!! Again, the fish was sea liced and weighed in at 6lbs.

That brings our total to nine so far and I have to admit that I am pleasantly surprised with such a great start to the season. Maybe the timing of the Spring run is going back to what it was 20 years ago, so for those of you that are interested there are still February timeshares available, and there is the odd rod here and there for the next few weeks but they are filling fast so if you’re interested, please give us a shout.
