DL_4032Fishing improved dramatically here at Delphi in the first few days in March with three fish landed in as many days. Water levels remained high throughout and temperatures both air and water were well down also.

First off the mark on the 1st of March was Martin Davison who landed a lovely fish of 8lbs11ozs in the Meadow Pool on a Chartreuse Conehead Park Shrimp. It was Martin’s first visit to Delphi and he had his fish on the bank by lunch time.

We then had a party headed up by Luke Drey who is a regular salmon angler. Luke brought a couple of relative newcomers to salmon fishing along and it was they who were successful.

On the 2nd Ashley Glover landed his first ever salmon, a cracking fish of 9lbs14.5ozs taken in the Horseshoe on a Collie Dog. DL_1347Needless to say Ashley was over the moon. He was using a 12’9” double handed with a sinking tip line.

On the 3rd Lloyd Scraggs landed his first ever salmon on the fly. His fish came from the Whin Pool on a Cascade Conehead and weighed in at 7lbs.

We drew a blank Friday and Saturday but there was a good fish lost this morning in the Waterfall. The water was at 45 this morning but we have had steady rain on and off during the day and it is now at 55 and bitterly cold, so any fish taken is certainly well deserved.

Hopefully there will be a few more silver bars landed in the next few days. D.McEvoy
