It’s hard to believe that in the last 7 days we have had 142mms(5.6”) of rain. This is actually more than the total rainfall for February or March. This week the system was almost unfishable some days due to extremely high water, which considering the last two months is a welcome change. It also appears that fish have been running.
Since my last update Michael Roden was the first to bag a fish with one off the Meadow pool on a Delphi Collie of 8lbs5ozs on Tuesday. Not to be outdone his fishing partner Guy Hollis then landed a fish of approx. 6lbs also on a Delphi Collie from Morrisons.
We drew a blank then till yesterday when we had 5. David Dunne had 2, one off Doolough of approx. 13lbs on a Black and Yellow tube and then one from the Rock pool of 11lbs10ozs on a Willie Gunn.
The Wymes family had 3, one of 10lbs11ozs on a Willie Gunn from the Rock pool and two from Finlough, one of 9lbs12.5ozs and the other approx.9lbs, both on a Yellow shrimp fly.
So far today the Wymes family have accounted for three more all off Finlough, one of 6lbs12ozs and the others of approx. 8lbs and 9lbs. They took a Posh Sunday, a Yellow shrimp and a Red Frances.
That now brings our total for the year to 34. With the excellent conditions we have at the minute I’d be hoping that the recent trend will continue. D.McEvoy
