Well it’s hard to believe that we have already reached that time of year again when we are up and running with the 2016 fishing season. As was the case last year, we were again joined by an enthusiastic group of Germans from Bavaria for the “Blast and Cast”.

The “Blast” was a little quieter than last year with the 31st being an extremely wet day and not really ideal for shooting. Having said that a good time was had by all despite the atrocious conditions yesterday.

As is always the case there was great anticipation this morning when the more serious anglers ventured forth in difficult conditions. The river was running at 65, but there was a strong upstream wind which made fishing a little more challenging. This did not deter in any way one of our most successful and long standing anglers who managed to land the first fish of the season.

The sea liced fish was taken in Morrison’s on a Cascade tube and weighed in at approx. 6lbs. It’s great to get off the mark so early in the season and there was also another good fish lost in the afternoon. Hopefully this will bode well for the coming season.

There is plenty of availability this week so if there are any of you out there chomping at the bit to get a line in the water, please contact us and hopefully I will be reporting on more tight lines in the coming days. D.McEvoy
